Abstract

La balanza comercial en el primer cuatrimestre de 1989 presentó un superávit de 245-2 millones de dóla­res, 87.2 por ciento inferior al mis­mo periodo del año anterior. Se in­crementaron las exportaciones de los productos manufactureros en 8.5 por ciento; las industrias más ac­tivas fueron la química, la de maqui­naria y equipo, la siderúrgica, la minerometalúrgica, la de fabricación de productos minerales no metáli­cos, la del papel y la de productos plásticos. Las exportaciones deriva­das de la Industria extractiva y del sector agropecuario decrecieron en este lapso en -33 y -16.1 por ciento, respectivamente. En el primer caso se debió a la disminución de los precios internacionales del petróleo, aunque mejoraron ligeramente en relación al último cuatrimestre de 1988. En lo que respecta id sector agropecuario, se observó decreci­miento en las ventas al exterior de ganado en pie.
