PRINCIPALES CARACTERÍSTICAS DEL TRATADO DE LIBRE COMERCIO Y SUS IMPACTOS
Abstract
Pocos temas en la actualidad han despertado tanta controversia como la posible aprobación del Tratado de Libre Comercio entre México, Canadá y Estados Unidos por parte de sus respectivos congresos. Los comentarios van desde aquellos que afirman que el Tratado será la panacea que remediará todos los males de la economía mexicana, incluyendo los de balanza de pagos, hasta los que ven en él, el monstruo que devorará la economía de una mordida y que después no quedará otra alternativa que solicitar la anexión de México a la Unión Americana. Sin embargo, el Tratado tal como ha sido firmado no permite ninguna de estas dos posibilidades extremas: por ello, en este artículo se intentará aclarar y matizar las características de este acuerdo que lo hacen un convenio bastante equilibrado, bien estructurado y que cuenta con mecanismos autorreguladores que permiten corregir cualquier falla que pudiera poner en peligro la seguridad nacional o algún sector o rama de la economía. Otro objetivo de este trabajo es exponer los impactos más generales que podría causar el acuerdo en la economía mexicana.Those authors who have publications with this magazine accept the following terms:
