APERTURA EXTERNA Y DESARROLLO DE LAS CIUDADES MEDIAS DE JALISCO
Abstract
Los resultados del censo de población de 1990 comprueban que actualmente las ciudades medias crecen demográficamente más rápido que las ciudades metropolitanas. Desde entonces se hace hincapié en la existencia de una nueva etapa de urbanización y desarrollo regional relacionada con el cambio de los patrones demográficos y con una estrategia económica de apertura externa yliberalismo económico.Sin embargo, debido a la crisis actual y a la política macroeconómica de apertura externa, en lo que resta del presente siglo el país no tendrá capacidad para revertir el proceso concentrador de las grandes metrópolis aun cuando continúen las tendencias de crecimiento de las ciudades medias. Esta relativa desconcentración territorial de población y actividades se presenta de manera selectiva, y depende de los niveles de integración física y socioeconómica de las ciudades o áreas urbano-regionales, en particular de la suficiente infraestructura y equipamiento urbano.References
