NEOPROTECCIONISMO Y RELOCALIZACIÓN DE LAS INVERSIONES JAPONESAS EN LA ECONOMÍA MUNDIAL
Abstract
El importante dinamismo económico, industrial y tecnológico de Japón es un asunto que cobra cada vez mayor importancia, no sólo por la fuerte erosión que está Causando a la competitividad norteamericana y europea, sino por el impacto que ha tenido su comercio exterior en ambas economías, las cuales en los últimos años han visto crecer cada vez más sus déficits en cuenta corriente y sus necesidades de financiamiento e inversión externa provenientes de este país. Desde hace varios años el proteccionismo norteamericano ha obligado a la economía japonesa a reducir las exportaciones de algunos de sus productos manufacturados hacia este país y, más recientemente, también los europeos han sentido la necesidad de proteger sus fronteras ante los productos japoneses, principalmente en el área automotriz; necesidad cada vez mayor debido a la creciente productividad nipona a nivel mundial. Se calcula que actualmente para producir un automóvil en Japón se requiere un 30 por ciento de tiempo menos que su similar en Europa, y que entre 1993 y 1995 la diferencia será de 50 por ciento.References
