LA ESCASEZ DE AGUA EN LA ZONA METROPOLITANA DE GUADALAJARA: ¿UN PROBLEMA SIN SOLUCIÓN?
Abstract
Los cambios en la distribución espacial y en la estructura del quehacer humano relacionados con la urbanización, han tenido serias repercusiones en el manejo tanto de caudales como de la calidad del agua en los países de América Latina; sus grandes áreas metropolitanas poseen características comunes en relación con el agua: 1) demanda creciente de abastecimiento de agua domiciliaria e industrial; 2) aumento de las cargas de desechos que vierten a los cuerpos de agua, y 3) ocupación de planicies aluviales. Estos problemas se reflejan en la necesidad de explotar fuentes de abastecimiento de agua cada vez más distantes, en la utilización de los acuíferos subterráneos y, a menudo, en deficiente suministro público de agua.References
