PERSPECTIVAS ECONÓMICAS PARA 1998
Abstract
Para el futuro inmediato, las perspectivas económicas de México presentan claros y oscuros. Gracias al paquete de rescate financierodispuesto conjuntamente por el Fondo Monetario Internacional y el gobierno estadounidense -para desactivar una crisis financiera que amenazaba cambrar los mercados internacionales y, al mismo tiempo, salvar a los inversionistas de Wall Street con enormes exposiciones en tesobonos mexicanos- la crisis de la deuda que estalló en 1994 pudo ser efectivamente superada cambiando los cuantiosos vencimientos de corto plazo -incluidos los tesobonos- por deuda externa de mediano y largo plazos; y aceptando la aplicación de un programa de ajuste recesivo.
