PERSPECTIVAS ECONÓMICAS PARA 1999
Abstract
La curva ascendente de la economía mexicana -que se observó a partir del segundo trimestre de 1996, después de la profunda depresión de 1995- llegó a su fin en el primer trimestre de 1998. Se observó desde entonces un proceso de desaceleración: de una tasa de crecimiento de 7 por ciento observada en 1997 y de 6.6 por ciento en el primer trimestre de 1998, el dinamismo económico descendió a cerca del 3.5 por ciento en el último trimestre de 1998.Desde los últimos trimestres de 1997 se registró un descenso significativo en el ritmo de crecimiento del sector exportador, a causa de la apreciación real del peso mexicano, de la contracción económica internacional y de la mayor competitividad de los países asiáticos que devaluaron sus monedas. En 1998 se acentuó la desaceleración de las exportaciones mexicanas, incluso sin petróleo: la tasa de crecimiento de las exportaciones manufactureras sin maquiladoras se redujo de 46.9 por ciento en 1995, 22.4 por ciento en 1996, y 14.4 por ciento en 1997, a sólo 8.7 por ciento durante enero-septiembre de 1998, respecto a igual periodo del año previo.Those authors who have publications with this magazine accept the following terms:
