CRISIS DE AHORRO Y AHORRO PARA LAS CRISIS
Abstract
En la literatura económica con frecuencia se encuentran opiniones y estudios formales que relacionan el crecimiento económico de un país o región con el comportamiento de su tasa de ahorro. A pesar de ello, entre los estudiosos del tema no existe consenso en cuanto al sentido de la causalidad entre ambas variables; la macroeconomía clásica afirma que una mayor tasa de ahorro (propensión media a ahorrar) causa, a través de la inversión, mejoras en la tasa de crecimiento del producto. Sin embargo, algunos estudios empíricos parecen sugerir que la tasa de ahorro es producto del nivel de crecimiento económico y argumentan que el nivel de ingreso de una sociedad determina su tasa de ahorro. Partiendo del supuesto de que existe correlación entre ambas variables e ignorando el sentido de la causalidad, el presente trabajo reflexiona sobre la importancia del ahorro, interno y externo, en el crecimiento económico de México y pone especial énfasis en su comportamiento durante las crisis económicas de los años ochenta y noventa.References
